I’ve been living at Heatherwood a year now, and one of the things I enjoy the most is getting outdoors and out in the neighborhood walking around. I enjoy being with people of my age, it really makes a difference in how I feel about myself. You know, before moving here, I shared a house with my family and I never got to know anybody my age or be social, so being at Heatherwood has made all the difference in the world to me. It’s very nice, I love my apartment, it’s just the right size, and the staff takes really good care of everything, they are absolutely fantastic! And you know, I didn’t think I’d enjoy Bingo much, but I really do, we joke around and tell stories and it’s really kind of funny. I keep joking around and telling some of my old classmates that I keep in touch with that I don’t think I’ve won as much money going to Las Vegas as I have here in Bingo. I also really enjoy the exercise room and exercise groups that help my neuropathy, because it helps me get and stay stronger to keep my independence. I’m glad Heatherwood offers a very wide variety of things and I really love the afternoon wine and social hours. Heatherwood has just the right mix of everything.

You know when I began to look into Assisted Living about 6 years ago, I looked at a number of different communities. At Heatherwood I found a wonderful apartment on the 2nd floor that overlooks our beautiful courtyard and the view of the Boise foothills and valley is just spectacular, nothing compares to it. And the renovations they’ve undertaken the last few years are just great. You know, I had a visitor before this pandemic and the safety precautions we’ve taken here, and she said that it’s the prettiest apartment she’s ever seen. It’s very comfortable and with my fireplace, that just tops it all off. the staff at Heatherwood are amazing too, they’ve taken special measures in keeping us safe, they even started washing my clothes for me, so I can stay socially distanced. Heatherwood has one of the best Lifestyle Directors in the country, I think, and I lead a very active lifestyle in that direction. I’ve lived here about 6 years now, and I still go out to walk and hike 3 to 10 miles per day around different locations the valley offers with my family, why I’m 92 years young at Heatherwood Senior Living!

My name is Smitty and I moved into Heatherwood in September, at a very difficult time with all the COVID issues, but the dining staff has made adjustments and we still get a fresh hot meal with a great presentation right to our apartment for all meals and anything we need. It’s always a hot fresh meal and lots of variety at Heatherwood Senior Living. I look forward to Covid passing so I can enjoy the benefits of getting to know my neighbors and partake of our all day soup, salad bar, and dining with friends. I really like having choices because I don’t like the same thing all the time, and being able to have those choices helps me manage my diabetes, it’s really made a difference in my life. I especially love the meatloaf and chicken wings, and the pastas are really good too. There’s just so much that the culinary team provides and goes out of their way to keep us nutritionally happy. There’s this ingredient they put in all the food called MORE, because staff knows I always want MORE!
You know, I was homeless for about 7 months because of availability issues in the valley, but was able to find a wonderful home that fits my lifestyle, here at Heatherwood! When they say ‘Welcome Home’ at Heatherwood, they really mean it. The customer service and caring from the entire team is out-freakin’-standing. They are not just here for the paycheck, they really show how much they care in everything they do.

I love my apartment at Heatherwood Senior Living, it’s just perfect for me and my dog Bella. It’s a 1 Bedroom that’s spacious and I have all my own things from home. I’m very comfortable and I love that it looks out onto our beautiful courtyard. Heatherwood is so pretty now with all the changes and renovations, it all came together splendidly. Right now, we might not be able to have as much fun as we usually do because of these extenuating circumstances and socially distancing, but hey they are keeping us safe. I like the fact that we have all the community rooms, playing cards in the evenings, speakers with interesting topics, and music every week. The dining room and meals I like the very best and the staff is so conscious about our choices. I’ve been here 3 years in April and I think the renovations are just wonderful, it was sure worth the wait. I really like the social gatherings and it’s all about our time and our Lifestyle we’re keeping at Heatherwood Senior Living.

I’m Rhonda, and I moved into Heatherwood Senior Living in January of this year (2020), and even though it’s been a challenging year to say the least for my lifestyle, there is a wonderful selection of different things to enjoy here. I really love playing cards and visiting with everyone in the evenings, and playing bingo, walk club, and especially Wine Down Wednesdays because we get to relax and really get to know one another, yet keeping socially distanced. I’ve made some wonderful friends at Heatherwood, and I think this coming Summer is going to be most excellent in the new courtyard with live musical guests, dancing, and BBQ’s, It’s really exciting to think about. I see others really enjoy the craft activities, even though I’m not so much, my neighbors and friends are so creative. There’s something for everyone’s Lifestyle at Heatherwood Senior Living.

Moving my mom from her house and garden of 45 years was difficult. The staff and residents at Heatherwood have been nothing but kind to her and have assisted everyday in making sure she is welcome and feels at home. It is making the transition far easier than ever excepted.

I recently was invited for a tour of Heatherwood Senior Living and was excited to see the lively buzz of all the residents. Everyone was extremely warm, welcoming and friendly from management, staff, and residents. I was surprised with how many amenities were offered at Heatherwood. The movie theater room was spacious and luxurious, a busy and social salon with a buzz and fitness room for those new years resolutions. They even have their very own lounge for a change of scene and where competitive card players can socialize or play other select games! Director Brandie Garlitz was eager to show me the soon to be upgrades the community will soon be building. I cannot wait to see the new improvements and also new activities that will be coming! I was enlightened of the affordability for residency, with all the changes going on the one thing this amazing place does not lack in, is the quality of care and attention to personal specific needs, Heatherwood seemed to have it all and with the hustle and bustle of life, I can see why Heatherwood is becoming an even more popular selection when it comes to an independent living community. I highly recommend stopping in and taking some time to learn more on what this community has to offer and get to know more about how Brandie can help. My 92-year-old Dad moved into Heatherwood this past October and he loves it there! The rates are very reasonable for his large studio apartment. He likes the full 3 meals each day and playing Bingo whenever he can. We have found the staff to be exceptionally attentive and caring! When something in his room needs fixing the maintenance staff is right on it. The kitchen/dining room staff is also outstanding! He is so happy with his food–and my Dad is really picky. Don’t let the modest-looking facility fool you–this is a great home for someone who doesn’t need all that fussy “resort-style” nonsense that so many other senior homes charge a fortune for. Heatherwood is reasonably priced, it’s very clean, and the staff is wonderful. I may even move in when I’m Dad’s age!!

I have been a resident at HEATHERWOOD since may 1, 2011 and when I first arrived my breathing was poor and my ability to walk was worse. after much encouragement and improving suggestions by the staff my walking has advanced to one mile per day from 1/2 a block and my breathing has improved considerably. My diabetes is under control and slowly I’m improving the strength on my right side where I suffered a small stroke in sept 2010. I enjoy the friendly culture at HEATHERWOOD and hope to continue to live here as long as the good lord allows. Smiles to all, George Baker
